We invite you to the first public presentation of the Megafone.net/montreal project.  Our research team uses cellphones to photograph the barriers they face in the city of Montréal. These photos are geo-located on a map, populated with their user-generated content. Obstacles are identified by “tags” which represent the themes that the users have nominated as significant. For the first time, the scope and extent of discrimination based on disability appears on a city map.

During this presentation, hosted by Dr. Kim Sawchuk (Communication Studies) and Laurence Parent (PhD in Humanities), we will explain the project, which is a collaboration between the Mobile Media Lab-Montreal and Catalan artist Antoni Abad. We also will premiere video clips made with participants and leave plenty of time for  discussion on the in/accessibility of Montréal.
